The day before your trip starts we meet at the bike shop. You will test your bikes, equipment, maps and you can make any last minute adjustments. We will present the route in more detail, answer your questions and make sure that you are ready for your cycling adventure.
The bike trip begins from the Praha Bike office in the center of Prague. We go to Pruhonice with a chateau and amazing garden and continue to Kozel brewery in Velke Popovice where we stop for lunch. We continue through the Sazava river valley with nice little villages. We will finish in Konopiště Castle, originally founded as a Gothic fortress that was inspired by French fortresses with a symmetrical layout of the towers, several entrances and drawbridges. Gradually it has been converted into a romantic chateau. Your guide will show you around the courtyard and castle exterior and tell you all about the history of the castle as well as the important and famous owner of Konopiste Castle who was the archduke Frantisek (Franz) Ferdinand d'Este. A successor to the Austro-Hungarian throne whose assassination in Sarajevo in 1914 became a pretext of World War I.
Today you will bike through the beautiful Czech countryside to Votice. You may visit a nice chateau in Vrchotovy Janovice with a park. You last stop for the day will be in Tabor. This town was founded by the Hussites in 1420, there are many historical and cultural points to explore.
On this day we will bike around Luznice river to Sobeslav. Then we cross the Vltava river (same in Prague) to the magnificent chateau in Hluboka nad Vltavou. Originally a castle that was founded by the kings of Bohemia in the mid 13th century, it is a sight not to be missed. Today is a nice example of the Tudor Gothic style.
After 15 km ride from Hluboka town we will come to Ceske Budejovice. This is political, commercial and cultural center of South Bohemia Region and a home city to one of the biggest breweries in the country Budweiser/Budvar Brewery. After Budejovice there is a nice biking part of 30 km to Cesky Krumlov. Enjoying the last part through the forests and nature, but be ready, fun is not over, embrace yourself to accomplish also the last hills. Once you reach Cesky Krumlov, the second most visited town in the country (in UNESCO list), you will be able to relax and explore the city and admire its beauty.
After leaving Cesky Krumlov, you will continue to Velesin where you will visit a nice pilgrimage place Rimov with beautiful way of the cross with 25 stops. You may also visit the loreta church. Your next stop will be a small village called Trocnov with a huge monument of a hussite leader Jan Zizka (1360 - 1424), who was born here. After visiting Borovany you will finish in a spa town Trebon with a nice chateau and historical building. It has a beautiful surrounding around the ponds famous for fish which we recommend to try in many fish restaurants in the city.
In the beginning of the day you will go to beautiful city Jindrichuv Hradec with a nice chateau which is after Prague and Cesky Krumlov the largest castle complex in the Czech Republic. After crossing the mountain range with some hills you will end in UNESCO city Telc with a renaissance castle and historic houses on the main square.
This day you will ride through beautiful part of a Bohemian country called Czech Canada with beautiful landscape. Your first sight you will see is Dacice with a chateau built in classicism style in 19th century. On the square you can climb up the church spire with a nice view on the landscape. In 1841 was in Dacice produced the first cube sugar in the world. Then you will continue to Slavonice, a beautiful renaissance city with historic houses on the square. Then will start a very nice part of the way, the canyon of Dyje River with Vranov chateau. You will finish in historical town Znojmo with a rotunda from 10th century.
As you leave Znojmo you will bike through some traditional wine villages. In these villages you can visit the wine cellars and taste the local wine. From Mikulov you will bike the through the central wine region to Valtice. In both towns are nice chateaus. You may visit UNESCO chateau Lednice with a nice park. As you bike through the vineyards and there will be opportunities for wine tasting again.
Just behind Lednice you will cross the border to Austria where you will also enjoy a nice landscape. You may visit historic town Poysdorf. You will stay in Mistelbach.
For the last day of the tour we chose a shorter distance for you so you may enjoy Vienna city with beautiful sights like the Schonbrunn Chateau, Hofburg, Town Hall and the St. Stephen Cathedral.
