Our Prague - Vienna Greenways self-guided tour is a fantastic outdoor adventure! With its stunning Czech landscapes, rich history, picturesque villages and castles, forests, and rolling hills, the countryside offers endless opportunities for outdoor fun and exploration. Along the way, you will experience the local culture and taste some of the best local food and wine in the country.

The journey takes you through the heart of the Czech Republic, offering stops in charming towns like Tabor, Telc, Slavonice, Mikulov, and Lednice. Lednice, for example, is known for its fairy-tale castle, the Lednice Chateau, and the beautiful surrounding park. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The chateau, built in the neo-Gothic style, features a minaret offering panoramic views of the South Moravian landscape and is one of the most visited sites in the country.

You can finish your tour in Vienna, renowned for its imperial history, magnificent architecture, and vibrant cultural scene, or opt to conclude on the Czech border in  Lednice, with breathtaking castle and park. Also convenient place for taking a direct train (with or without a bicycle) back to Prague or to Vienna.

Day/Evening before you trip starts

The day before your trip starts we will meet at the bike shop so you can test your bikes and make any last minute changes you need. We will go over your route in detail and answer any questions you might have.

Day 1: Prague - Sedlcany

Your bike trip starts, you bike out of Prague and towards Pruhonice. Here you can visit your first castle from the 19th century surrounded by its beautiful castle park. You will then continue to Tynec nad Sazavou previously famous for the production of Jawa motorcycles. We recommend making your first stop overnight in the romantic town of Sedlcany where you can relax and explore the gothic church and statues.

Day 2: Sedlcany - Tabor

From Sedlcany you can bike through the picturesque landscape through Sedlec-Prcice and Borotin. You will pass some gothic style churches and towers. You can stop overnight in the historical town of Tabor originally founded by the Hussites in 1420.

Day 3: Tabor - Jindrichuv Hradec

From Tabor you need to continue 40 km towards Jindrichuv Hradec through the villages of Lom and Tucapy that were previously occupied by Jewish communities during the World War II. Along the way are many natural ponds that are perfect for swimming. We recommend staying overnight in  Jindrichuv Hradec, an ancient historical town with a unique renaissance style town centre. There is also an interesting church and monastery to explore.

Day 4: Jindrichuv Hradec - Slavonice

As your bike adventure continues you will follow the beautiful Greenways path to Slavonice. As you ride through several charming Czech villages you will really start to see and experience the local Czech culture and lifestyle. You can stop overnight in the well preserved gothic town of Slavonice which is popular among Czech tourists and artists.

Day 5: Slavonice - Vranov nad Dyji

From Slavonice to Vranov Dyji, you can explore the nature as you cycle along the Austrian border. In Vranov you can enjoy the spectacular views from Vranov Castle overlooking the medieval village. Here you will also have the opportunity to take a scenic boat ride over the dam Vranov.

Day 6: Vranov nad Dyji - Hevlin

As you leave Vranov nad Dyji you will bike through some traditional wine villages. In these villages you can visit the wine cellars and taste the local wine. In Hevlin you can see the Moravian museum or enjoy great time in the aquapark.

Day 7: Hevlin - Poysdorf

From Hevlin you will bike the past the charming Moravian village of Mikulov and onto the epicenter of wine production in Valtice. As you bike through the vineyards and there will be opportunities for wine tasting again. As you cross the border into Austria you can stop overnight in Poysdorf.

Day 8: Poysdorf - Vienna

The last part of your trip will take you through the last scenic views of the Austrian countryside. As you leave the countryside behind you, you will head towards your final destination Vienna, a city known for Art and Culture. We recommend spending a couple of days here to visit the sights, museums and galleries like St. Stephan Cathedral, Hofburg, Townhall or Schonbrunn Chateau.

Day 1 / Meeting in Prague

Day 2: Prague - Sedlcany

Day 6: Slavonice - Vranov nad Dyji

As we continue on our bikes from Slavonice to Vranov Dyji, we will explore the nature and spectacular views from Vranov. Here there is the opportunity to take a scenic boat ride over the Vranov dam.

Day 7: Vranov nad Dyji - Hevlin

As we leave Vranov nad Dyji we will bike through some traditional wine villages. Here you can visit the wine cellars and taste the local wine. In Hevlin you can visit the Moravian museum or take a trip to the aquapark.

Day 8: Hevlin - Poysdorf

From Hevlin we will bike the through the central wine region of Valtice. We will go through the vineyards and there will be opportunities for wine tasting again. As we cross the border into Austria we will stop for overnight in Poysdorf.

Day 9: Poysdorf - Vienna

On the last day of our trip we will enjoy the last scenic views of the Austrian countryside. As we leave the countryside behind us we will make our final stop in Vienna, a city known for Art and Culture. We recommend spending a couple of days here to visit the sights, museums and galleries (St. Stephan Cathedral, Townhall, Hofburg and Schonbrunn Chateau).
